ABOUT

​

Deonn is a freelance theatre and film actor based in Singapore, and she graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts with a BA First Class (Hons) in Acting in 2016.

​

During her time at LASALLE, Deonn had the opportunity to work with local and international artists and directors. Her theatre credits range from the classics to the contemporary and commissioned works of our time. From Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet, to The Revolutionary Model Play 2.0, a commissioned work directed by Beijing-based director, Wang Chong of Théâtre du Rêve, as part of the Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA) 2015, to her final graduation show, The Hummingbird, a commissioned work by National Arts Council Young Artist Award Recipient Zizi Azah, directed by Edith Podesta.

Since graduating, Deonn has been able to make her passion her career.

​

Deonn has been a part of The M1 Fringe Festivals in 2017 and 2018 - Pretty Butch and One Thousand Millennials Crying respectively and has performed in Children’s Festivals since 2016. She was also a part of Koko the Great commissioned for Esplanade’s PLAYtime! 2017, directed by Natalie Hennedige, Artistic Director of Cake Theatrical Productions.

Her film and TV credits include playing the title role of Sara in an independent short film SARA, directed by Dharfianto Kiang, and Lola from Run Lola Run, for the European Union Film Festival 2015 Festival Trailer. She may also be seen in Mediacorp's TV Series Rojak.

Being an actor has given her the opportunity to work with people whom she has always respected and looked up to.

​

When she is not acting, Deonn teaches drama and theatre to young people in schools. Deonn teaches at secondary and pre-tertiary levels, and has directed several full-length theatrical productions as well as taken part in the Singapore Youth Festival Competitions.

​

Deonn wishes to start conversations with people, either through collaboration or her work. Art must be used as a medium to communicate, question, reflect and to push boundaries. Deonn wants to tell stories which honest, provocative and truthful. She believes that everyone has a story to tell and a journey of their own, and she firmly believes in the power of stories and storytelling.

​

Deonn hopes to keep training and learning, and one day to start writing and directing her own work. But till that day comes she looks forward to working with like-minded people to play, jam and create works that need to be heard.
